Eyelash Extensions that result in itchy eyes

The most common problem we see at Mission Creek Optometry with eyelash extensions is puffy, red and itchy eyelids after the application of extensions.

The most common problem we see at Mission Creek Optometry with eyelash extensions is puffy, red and itchy eyelids after the application of extensions.

What causes this is typically an allergic reaction to the adhesive or glue used. Unfortunately, when the reaction occurs there is no treatment that will quickly reverse the uncomfortable and unattractive look to the lids.
Eyelids can remain puffy for weeks after the exposure and reaction. The use of cortisone cream, antihistamines and cold compresses can be of great help.
It's always advisable to test the glue before the full lash application to ensure you don't have sensitivity or worse, an allergic reaction.

If you notice a slight irritability, take note that the irritability of the adhesive does diminish with time as the lashes grow out.
